PasteDL vs FastDL

An honest, sitemap-verified comparison of PasteDL and FastDL: which Instagram formats each one publishes a tool for, where FastDL is stronger, and which to pick.

Last updated:

FastDL is one of the larger Instagram downloaders by page count. Its public sitemap lists 229 URLs — nine tool pages published across 25 language versions — alongside an Android APK and its own set of comparison pages. PasteDL is smaller and shaped differently: nine tool pages across 21 languages, browser-only, with no app to install.

The two overlap on the formats most people arrive for — videos, reels, photos and stories — so the honest comparison is not "which downloads Instagram videos" but which one publishes a tool for the format you actually need. Below is what each site lists in its own sitemap, including the places where FastDL covers something PasteDL does not.

Where FastDL is stronger

It publishes an Android app

FastDL offers an APK for Android, which PasteDL deliberately does not. If you want a home-screen icon rather than a browser tab, that is a real advantage and PasteDL has no answer to it — we are browser-only on purpose, so there is nothing to side-load and nothing asking for device permissions.

It still covers IGTV

FastDL keeps a dedicated IGTV page. Instagram folded IGTV into its normal video formats back in 2022, so this matters less each year, but if you are working through older saved links that still use IGTV URLs, FastDL publishes a tool aimed squarely at them and PasteDL does not.

Dedicated pages for carousels and anonymous viewing

PasteDL handles carousels on its photo page and anonymous story viewing on its stories page. FastDL gives each its own URL. The end result is similar, but a dedicated page is easier to land on directly and tends to explain that one case in more depth.

Four more interface languages

FastDL ships 25 language versions to PasteDL’s 21. If your language is among those four, that is a straightforward reason to prefer it.

Where PasteDL is stronger

Story highlights get a real tool

Highlights are the format most downloaders skip, because a highlight is a separate Instagram surface rather than a post URL. FastDL publishes no highlights page. PasteDL does, and it lists every item inside a highlight individually so you can save one clip instead of the whole reel.

Profile pictures at their stored size

Instagram shows an avatar as a small circle in-app. PasteDL has a dedicated tool for the full-size stored version, plus a separate profile viewer for the wider public snapshot. FastDL’s sitemap lists neither.

TikTok as well as Instagram

PasteDL covers TikTok videos and TikTok profile pictures. FastDL is Instagram-only, so a TikTok link means finding another site.

No app, no install, no permissions

This is the flip side of FastDL’s APK, and which way it cuts depends on what you want. PasteDL runs entirely in the browser: nothing to side-load, no app-store account, no device permissions, and nothing left on your phone when you close the tab.

Which one should you use?

Pick FastDL if you want an Android app, if you are still working with IGTV links, or if your language is one of the four it covers and PasteDL does not.

Pick PasteDL if you need story highlights, full-size profile pictures, a public profile snapshot, or TikTok alongside Instagram — those are the four things FastDL publishes no page for. Both are free, neither asks for an Instagram login, and both work only with content Instagram already makes public.

How we checked

Every row above describes what each site publishes a page for, read from fastdl.app's own public sitemap and page titles on 2026-08-17. That is a deliberate limit: a tool can support a format without publishing a page for it, so "no such page in its sitemap" is what we can verify and is all we claim. We do not test each other's download output, and we do not describe a competitor's file quality. FastDL may add pages after this date — if you spot a row that has gone stale, email support@pastedl.com and we will re-check it.
