Privacy Policy

PasteDL is built to work without a user account and without asking for your Instagram password. This policy explains exactly what limited data is involved when you use the tool, who processes it, and the rights you have over it.

Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the PasteDL website at pastedl.com and all of its tool pages for downloading public Instagram videos, reels, stories, photos, highlights, profile pictures and profiles. It does not apply to Instagram, Meta Platforms, or any third-party site you reach through a link. PasteDL is operated as an independent, browser-based utility and is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. By using the site you acknowledge the practices described here.

Information you provide

PasteDL does not require you to create an account, and it never asks for your Instagram username, password, or session. The only information you actively provide is: (1) the public Instagram link or username you paste into the search bar, which is used solely to locate and prepare the requested public media for that single request; and (2) any name, email address and message you choose to submit through the contact form. Pasted links are processed transiently to fulfil the download and are not used to build a personal profile or a saved download history.

Information collected automatically

Like virtually all websites, our hosting and content-delivery infrastructure processes standard technical request data — IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, language preference and timestamps — in server and edge logs. This data is used for security, abuse prevention, debugging and aggregate traffic measurement. We also store a small NEXT_LOCALE cookie to remember your language choice. We do not sell this information.

Third-party services we use

PasteDL relies on a small number of third-party processors, each governed by its own privacy policy: Google reCAPTCHA v3, which performs an invisible bot-abuse check on download requests and shares interaction signals with Google; Google Analytics 4, which provides aggregate, privacy-respecting usage measurement; Google AdSense, which serves the advertising that keeps PasteDL free and which may set or read advertising cookies and similar identifiers on your device; Google Funding Choices, the Google-certified consent management platform that presents the consent notice and stores your advertising choice; a content-delivery network and hosting provider that serve and cache pages; and the media backend that retrieves the requested public Instagram file. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the independent data practices of these providers — please review Google's Privacy Policy and Terms, which cover reCAPTCHA, Analytics and AdSense alike.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use a limited set of cookies and similar technologies: a functional cookie that remembers your language preference; analytics and measurement identifiers set by Google Analytics; and advertising cookies and identifiers set by Google AdSense and its ad technology partners, which are used only where you have consented or where local law permits them without consent. Analytics data is aggregated and tells us which tools are used and how the site performs; advertising identifiers are used to select ads, cap how often the same one is shown, and measure whether it worked. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and every downloader tool on PasteDL keeps working without them. The advertising section below lists the specific controls that apply to ads.

How long data is kept

Pasted links are processed only for the duration of the request and are not retained as a per-user history. Technical logs are retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes and then rotated or deleted. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry. Analytics data follows the retention configured in Google Analytics. We retain data no longer than necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA or similar laws — including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data we hold, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because PasteDL does not maintain user accounts, the personal data we hold is limited (chiefly contact-form submissions and technical logs). To exercise any right — including deletion of a contact-form message you have sent us — email support@pastedl.com with the subject line “Data Request”. We acknowledge requests within 72 hours and aim to complete them within 30 days, in line with the GDPR and CCPA response windows; if we need to verify your identity before acting, we will tell you what is required.

Children's privacy

PasteDL is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers and security

Because our infrastructure and third-party processors operate globally, technical data may be processed in countries other than your own, including via global CDN edge locations. All pages are served over HTTPS with HSTS, and we apply a Content-Security-Policy and standard security headers. No internet transmission is ever fully secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data involved.

Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect operational, legal or regulatory changes; the effective date is shown by the Last updated date on this page. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Questions, requests or privacy complaints can be sent to support@pastedl.com.

Legal basis for processing

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, PasteDL processes data under two bases. Most automatic processing — server logs, abuse prevention through reCAPTCHA, and aggregate analytics — relies on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning service, balanced against your rights and freedoms. Where you actively submit information, such as through the contact form, processing is based on taking the steps you request to respond to your enquiry. PasteDL does not use your data for profiling or for automated decisions that produce legal effects. You may object to legitimate-interest processing at any time by emailing support@pastedl.com.

Your California privacy rights (Do Not Sell or Share)

PasteDL does not sell your personal information for money. Serving personalised advertising through Google AdSense may, however, count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and we treat it that way rather than relying on a narrower reading. California residents can opt out at any time: reopen the consent tool to withdraw advertising consent, switch personalised advertising off in Google Ad Settings, or send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, which our consent tool treats as a valid opt-out request. Opting out does not remove advertising — it makes the ads you see non-personalised — and it does not affect any downloader tool. California residents also keep the rights to know, delete and correct described in the rights section above; email support@pastedl.com to exercise them. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Advertising and your choices

PasteDL is free to use and is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar identifiers to select ads, limit how often you see the same one, and measure whether an ad worked. Google may use your previous visits to PasteDL and to other sites to make those ads more relevant, where you have consented to that use. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform asks for your choice before any advertising cookie is set, and that choice is passed to Google through Google Consent Mode; you can reopen the consent tool at any time to change it. Wherever you are, you can turn personalised advertising off in Google Ad Settings, opt out of participating third-party vendors through the industry pages at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu, or block cookies in your browser — ads will still appear, they will simply be less relevant. PasteDL never gives advertisers your contact-form details, the links you paste, or what you downloaded.
